Synopsis:-

Kitchen, bathroom, garden – we’ve got them all covered in this month’s great issue. Free A2 plans accompany Anthony Bailey’s Japanese-style garden bench and Alan Holtham’s hanging cupboard, the first project in his new bathroom suite series. Anthony also starts work on a kitchen workstation worthy of TV’s Masterchef, this month designing it for an exacting client and preparing the boards ready for construction in the following issue. There’s also a mirror-fronted corner cabinet from James Hatter that is surprisingly quick to make, and scrollsawn plant pot holders from Fred & Julie Byrnes, while Mark Baker contributes an aubergine-shaped chopping board in contrasting timbers. In the Learning Zone Michael Huntley uses basic halving joints to make a stairgate that could be the basis of much framing work, John Bullar demonstrates dovetails, Colin Simpson gets you turning and dyeing a platter and Peter Benson begins his relief-carving exercise. The tool focus is on 1/2- and 1/3-sheet sanders and tests include the new Trend Airshield Pro respirator and the AEG biscuit jointer. Andrea Hargreaves gives you a guided tour of the Lurem machine factory and reports on HMS Victory. Happy woodworking!
