Synopsis:-
Burning is normally the last thing you would want to happen to a carefully turned bowl, but we've got Adrian Jacobs charring and texturing deliberately to give an interesting finish. Other projects include Jo Winter using the shadow turning method to create an ebony winged bowl with finial, Tracy Owen turning four bowls that fit together like a jigsaw but which can be used singly, Nick Arnull making an end grain vase on tripod feet, Brynley Edwards turning a chestnut wall mirror, and Bill Care making a simple three-legged stool. Nick Agar demonstrates how to turn off-centre to create a free-standing sculpture and Reg Shewin discusses the skew chisel. Kevin Wallace meets Matt Moulthrop, the third generation of a great US turning family, while Simon Whitehead does damage to the family microwave. Products from Oneway and Lignomat come under scrutiny, along with a DVD by Jean-Fran¨ois Escoulen.
